Sony’s The Green Hornet was one of the most pirated films last month according to TorrentFreak, a popular blog dedicated to reporting the latest news on the BitTorrent protocol and file sharing. The King’s Speech, distributed by The Weinstein Company, currently boasting 12 Oscar nominations, followed closely as Torrent users surged towards other films nominated for the 82nd Academy Awards such as Megamind and The Social Network. Facing this wave of piracy, Nu Image Films, the independent production company behind last year’s The Expendables, has joined forces with the United States Copyright Group (USCG) to bring suit against such users. USCG is a Washington-based lawyer group that has made waves of late suing BitTorrent users. According to The Hollywood Reporter who is following this suit closely, Thomas Dunlap at USCG has maintained that this is just the first of several lawsuits planned over recently pirated titles.
